Open Door Policy

Families Are Our Partners

We believe children thrive when families and teachers work together. Our Open Door Policy welcomes parents and authorized family members to stay involved through classroom visits, special events, and ongoing communication. Building strong partnerships helps every child feel supported, confident, and successful.

Safety & Security

Your child’s safety is our highest priority. Our building has secure access, monitored classrooms, and supervised check-in and check-out procedures. We maintain a safe, caring environment where children can learn, explore, and grow with confidence.

Health & Illness

Healthy children learn best. To help maintain a healthy environment for everyone, we follow daily cleaning and sanitizing procedures throughout our school and carefully monitor children’s health during the day.

If a child becomes ill while at school, we will promptly contact the parent or guardian so arrangements can be made for the child to be picked up.

Children who have a fever or other symptoms that prevent them from comfortably participating in classroom activities should remain home until they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, or as otherwise recommended by their healthcare provider.

When communicable illnesses occur, we notify families while protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all children involved. Together, we can help keep our school community healthy.

Positive Guidance & Discipline

At Bright Kids, we view discipline as an opportunity to teach. We use positive guidance to help children learn problem-solving, kindness, self-regulation, and responsibility. Our teachers use age-appropriate strategies, such as clear expectations, encouragement, redirection, and support with calming and resolving conflicts.

Our approach is informed by Conscious Discipline and follows the Texas Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards for Discipline and Guidance. Guidance is individualized to each child’s age, development, and understanding, with the goal of helping children learn appropriate behavior and self-control.

Nutrition

Healthy habits begin early. Families provide nutritious lunches while Bright Kids provides daily snacks. We encourage positive mealtime experiences that promote independence, healthy eating habits, and social interaction.

We also work closely with families to accommodate food allergies and dietary needs, helping ensure every child enjoys meals safely and comfortably.

Inclusion — Every Child Belongs

At Bright Kids, we celebrate each child’s unique personality, abilities, and learning style. We are committed to creating a welcoming environment where every child feels respected, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Emergency Preparedness

We are committed to keeping children safe in every situation. Our staff completes ongoing emergency training and conducts regular fire, severe weather, and lockdown drills as required by Texas Child Care Licensing. Families are promptly notified whenever an emergency affects our school.

Daily Routine

Each classroom follows a consistent daily routine that balances learning, outdoor play, meals, rest, and hands-on activities. Daily schedules are carefully planned to match each age group’s developmental needs and are shared with enrolled families.

School Calendar

We know families have busy schedules. Our annual calendar has important dates, holidays, school events, and center closures all in one place.

Family Partnership & Support

Strong partnerships between families and teachers help children feel supported at home and at school. Throughout the year, we welcome conversations with families about their child’s growth, development, and behavior. We can share practical strategies and resources to support children’s needs and help families continue learning and positive routines at home. We value open communication and working together to help every child thrive.

Community Resources

We believe supporting families extends beyond the classroom. Explore trusted community organizations and local resources for childcare assistance, health services, family support, nutrition, and child development.
